So, you’re thinking about putting up a Facebook page to promote your business. Or maybe you already have one up, but the only people who visit it are your relatives and friends. If it’s the former, you could probably use some tips to create a great page to draw more customers into your business. If it’s the latter, you might need to consider an overhaul to get your Facebook page working the way it should. In either case, here are a few easy things you can do to attract more customers to your page, and pump up your bottom line.
Put some thought into making it attractive
Your Facebook page is you. If it’s dull, boring, and lifeless, you’re not going to get many people to visit. The fact is, you have less than 2 seconds to catch a browser’s attention. If you don’t, they’re gone, probably to your competition. So, what can you do to keep them on your page? Give them something to compel them to stay. If you’re using photography, make it clean, crisp, and powerful. If it’s a headshot of you, don’t use the office camera, get a pro to take it. If it’s a product or service you’re promoting, show it in its best light. If you’re using art, make sure it’s good art. Make people want to look. Give them a reason to read your copy.
And speaking of copy!
If you’re not a professional copywriter, you might want to consider getting one. There are a number of sites on the internet where you can connect with a good copywriter for a very reasonable cost. Bad copy has probably killed more products than anything else. If you drew your browsers in with great graphics, now you have to wow them with great copy – short, electrifying, forceful copy. No longwinded prose. This is a page we’re talking about, not a brochure.
Post photos and videos to your Timeline. Keep them fresh
Your Timeline is you in almost real-time. Many businesses make the mistake of putting up videos and photos and then forgetting them. No, no, no! Do not do this. People don’t want to see the same old thing every time they visit your site, any more than you want to see the same rerun of your favorite TV show every time you turn on the tube. If you’re boring your browsers, they’ll be browsing somewhere else!
And let’s not forget about a call-to-action
You have to wonder about firms that have great Facebook business pages, but then never ask their browsers to do a thing. What’s the point of having a business page if you’re not going to ask your browsers to buy something? Presumably, you’re there to sell, and they’re there to buy. Make it easy for them. Tell them to “Call # number right now to order,” give them some incentive (free shipping, price reduction, etc.), put in the extra effort to give them a reason to buy. Make them want to buy!
Check your Facebook page often
As in several times a day (at least). This is especially important because you’re going to receive comments about your products/services. Now, hopefully, all the comments will be great and laud your company as the best in the business. In some instances, however, your reviews (fairly or unfairly) might be negative. That negativity can drive other potential buyers away. You simply have to keep on top of this. You read every day about some business that’s been destroyed because of bad online reviews. Don’t let this be you!
Keep it simple
Great graphics, combined with great copy, plus one or more calls-to-action, should keep your firm in the spotlight for your customers and potential customers. The easier you make it for them, the better your chances of making a sale. And once you do, you’ll have even more ways of marketing to them through other media (email, company website, etc.). Happy Facebooking!
